Job summary

Wentworth Institute of Technology invites applications for part-time adjunct faculty in the Interior Design program for the 2026 fall semester at our Boston campus. Courses include Studio III, Studio V, and Drawing III with specific schedules. NCIDQ is preferred for studio teaching faculty.

Applicants must hold a PhD or a master’s degree in the History of Design or related field to teach History of Interiors I. The term runs Sept 8 to Dec 8, with review and exam periods afterward.

  • Prepare syllabi, evaluate student work, and contribute to curriculum quality.

Job Description
Interior Design Fall Adjunct Faculty Positions:

The School of Architecture and Design (SoAD) is currently seeking part-time adjunct faculty members for the 2026 fall semester to teach in-person courses within its Interior Design program on campus in Boston. Courses include Studio III, Studio V (both TTH, 1:00-4:30pm) and Drawing III (WF, 8-9:50am). NCIDQ is preferred for studio teaching faculty.

In addition, we are seeking a part-time adjunct faculty member to lead History of Interiors I (MW, 1:00-2:15pm). Applicants must hold a PhD or a master’s degree in the History of Design or a related field.

The fall term classes begin on September 8th and end on December 8th, followed by the review and exam period.

Wentworth’s School of Architecture and Design (SoAD) recognizes the critical role its courses and curriculum play in fostering academic success and addressing equity gaps. Comprising approximately 940 undergraduate and 100 graduate students, the SoAD has robust international study opportunities at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.

About the Interior Design Program

With approximately 130 students, the Interior Design program offers a dynamic studio-based program where students learn to elevate human experiences through the thoughtful design of interior environments. Along with the project-focused studio courses, the Interior Design curriculum includes the study of innovation in new materials and building technologies, technical courses in drawing and CAD, sustainable practices, social responsibility, and human behavior in diverse contexts. Students completetwo mandatory co-ops, bridging the gap between academia and industry, reinforcing coursework, and gaining valuable professional experience. Minimum Education Required:
  • Master’s degree.
  • AMaster’s degree in Interior Design ora relateddesignfield (e.g., Master of Design, Master of Fine Arts, DDes,or PhD).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • NCIDQ certification.
  • Prior university-level teaching and professional interior design experience.
  • Flexibility in teaching approach to address diverse student needs and interests.

Position Details:

Adjunct faculty compensation varies based on instructional mode (lecture or lab), number of course credits, and program. The minimum adjunct rate is $1,365 per credit.
