Job summary

College of the Mainland is seeking an adjunct instructor to teach Instrumentation topics, enabling students to understand function, installation, calibration, troubleshooting and maintenance of industrial control devices.

The position is part-time and will involve classroom and lab instruction, as well as maintaining student records and providing guidance as needed in a college setting on the Texas City campus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; 3 years experience as an Instrumentation Technician or I&E Technician.
• Associates degree in Instrumentation or equivalent certification preferred; 5 years of maintenance experience in petrochemical/refining instrumentation.
• Experience with PLC machinery and control systems; hydraulic and pneumatic machinery preferred.
• Knowledge of installation, operation, maintenance and modification of electrical, electronic, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
• Skilled in installation, troubleshooting, repair and calibration of instrumentation, I/O controllers and PLCs.
• Skilled in inspecting and repairing control valves, transmitters, meters and sensors.
• Ability to perform preventive maintenance on process instrumentation and meters.
• Ability to read P&ID, PFD and perform maintenance using instrument loop sheets.

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned classes in line with approved syllabi and materials.
• Maintain accurate student accounting records in compliance with COM policies.
• Provide counseling and guidance to students when needed.
