SOWELA College in Louisiana invites applications for an unclassified adjunct instructor in Information Systems Technology within the School of Business & Applied Technology. The position supports the Academic Affairs mission by delivering current curricula, developing course objectives, and guiding student learning outcomes.

The successful candidate will join the School of Business & Applied Technology, utilize the college's course management system, maintain accurate records, and meet grading

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Information Systems Technology or related field required.
  • Must meet credentialing guidelines for SACSCOC.
  • Three years work experience in information systems, networking, programming, and hardware and software installation.
  • Superior communication skills, ability to relate to students, faculty and staff; team player with a positive attitude.
  • Ability to assist students with college-readiness skills is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes the approved curriculum and develops course objectives and learning outcomes.
  • Keeps accurate classroom records and submits required reports timely.
  • Supports department assessment initiatives and uses the course management system.
  • Meets deadlines and evaluates student work, including grades and midterm/final reports.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Utilizes the approved curriculum. Develops clearly stated course objectives and learning outcomes. Ensures the objectives and content of the courses taught are current.
  • Keeps accurate classroom records.
  • Supports department assessment initiatives.
  • Uses and updates the required course management system.
  • Meets deadlines and evaluates student work in a timely manner, including submitting Show/No Show reports, midterm grades, and final grades.
  • Other duties as required or assigned

Required Education:

  • Master's degree in Information Systems Technology or related field
  • Must meet credentialing guidelines for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)

Required Experience:

  • Three years work experience in information systems, networking, programming, and hardware and software installation.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • The successful applicant will have superior communication skills, the ability to relate to students, other faculty, and college staff, and the ability to handle a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment.
  • The successful applicant will be a team player, have strong leadership skills, and possess a high‑energy level and a positive attitude.
  • The ability to assist students with college‑readiness skills is desired.

Required Licenses or Certifications:

  • CompTIA A+
