Candidates must have a master’s degree or higher in a health-related field, RHIT/RHIA certification, and 3+ years of instructional experience. Teaching at other locations may be required.

Qualifications

This position is located at Atlanta Tech's Main campus just south of Downtown Atlanta.Under the general supervision of the Dean of Health and Public Safety Technology, the Adjunct Instructor-Health Information Management Technology (HIMT Part-Time) will be responsible for creating and delivering engaging lessons, assessing student learning and progress, and providing academic support that contributes to student success. Adjunct faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions of employment appointed on a per academic term basis, up to twenty-nine (29) hours per week.Duties and responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to, the following:Prepare lesson plans for classroom instruction for credited technical and occupational courses in alignment with course curriculum.Provide instruction on health information systems, medical coding, data analytics, and healthcare compliance.Stay abreast of industry trends while supporting students in achieving their academic and career goals.Maintain accurate records of student attendance and grades.Attend staff development training, workshops, seminars and conferences; andPerforms additional duties, as assigned.COMPETENCIES:Skill in presenting subject matterSkill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with adult learnersSkill in problem solving and critical thinkingSkill in the use of computers and job-related softwareOral and written communication skillsKnowledge of student information systemsMinimum Qualifications:Must possess and demonstrate the following:Master’s degree or higher in education or health related field from an accredited college or university.
