Job summary

Long Island University is seeking Adjunct Instructors for the Exercise Science & Wellness Department to teach part-time courses in exercise science, kinesiology, and related health sciences. Duties include preparing materials, delivering instruction, and evaluating students.

The ideal candidate will hold a Master’s degree, preferably a Doctorate, and have experience in college-level teaching. Strong communication and instructional skills are essential, with professional certifications being a plus.

Job description

Adjunct Instructors within the Exercise Science & Wellness Department will be responsible for teaching part-time undergraduate and/or graduate courses in exercise science, kinesiology, wellness, fitness, nutrition, or related health sciences. The adjunct faculty member supports student learning through instruction, assessment, mentoring, and professional expertise in the field.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach assigned exercise science courses in areas such as Exercise Program Design, Exercise Physiology, Biomechanics, Sports Nutrition, Kinesiology, Strength and Conditioning, Wellness and Fitness Assessment, Coaching & Leadership.
  • Prepare course materials, lectures, assignments, and assessments.
  • Deliver instruction in classroom or experiential settings.
  • Evaluate student performance and provide timely feedback.
  • Maintain accurate attendance and grade records.
  • Hold office hours or provide student support as required.
  • Follow departmental policies and academic standards.
  • Stay current with developments in exercise science and related fields.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sports Medicine, or a related field required.
  • Doctorate preferred.
  • Previous college-level teaching experience preferred.
  • Professional certifications may be preferred, such as ACSM, NSCA-CSCS, NASM.
  • Strong communication and instructional skills.
  • Experience with online learning platforms is a plus.
