Job summary

Volunteer State Community College seeks an Adjunct Instructor for Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Education to provide high-quality instruction using integrative technologies. The role supports evening/weekend/off-campus and distance courses, and requires adapting to on-ground, online, hybrid, or web-enhanced modalities.

Minimum qualifications include an associate degree with five years EMS paramedic experience and eligible licensure in Tennessee; a bachelor’s degree is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution with minimum of five years full-time EMS experience as a paramedic.
  • Must meet requirements established by CAAHEP/CoAEMSP and Tennessee Department of Health/Office of EMS.
  • Paramedic licensure in Tennessee or eligible; licensure not revoked, denied, or suspended.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses via on ground, online, hybrid or web-enhanced modalities as assigned.
  • Teach evening, weekend, off-campus, dual enrollment and distance-based courses as required.
  • Submit class syllabus or update department syllabus at least 2 weeks prior to the first day of class or within seven days of contract execution.
  • Regularly check VSCC email and departmental mailbox.
  • Respond to emails/messages within 48 hours, excluding weekends.
  • Submit final grades by Registrar deadlines.
  • Complete required trainings and reports (attendance, alerts, progress reports, grades).
  • Advise Department Chair if unable to teach a class; attend requested meetings.
  • Comply with all College and TBR policies and guidelines.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for delivering quality instruction using integrative technologies.

Job Duties
  • Teach courses via on ground, online, hybrid or web-enhanced modalities as assigned.
  • Teach evening, weekend, off-campus, dual enrollment and distance-based courses as required.
  • Submit class syllabus or update department syllabus at least 2 weeks prior to the first day of class or within seven days of the execution of contract.
  • Regularly check your VSCC email and your departmental mailbox.
  • Respond to emails/messages within 48 hours except on the weekend.
  • Submit final grades for each semester by the deadline established by the Registrar.
  • Complete required College trainings.
  • Complete all required reports such as attendance, Early Alerts, progress reports, grade submissions and administer and return surveys by the required deadlines.
  • Advise the Department Chair at the earliest possibility if you are unable to teach a class.
  • Attend meetings as requested by the Department Chair and/or Dean.
  • Comply with all of the College’s and TBR’s policies and guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution with minimum of five years full time experience in emergency medical services (EMS) as a paramedic and a minimum of two years educational or instructional experience in EMS training or programs.
  • Must meet requirements established by the Commission of Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) upon recommendation from Committee on the Accreditation of Educational Programs for EMS Professions (CoAEMSP), and the Tennessee Department of Health/Office of EMS.
  • Must be licensed or eligible for Paramedic licensure in Tennessee; Paramedic licensure must be free from revocation, denial, or suspension.
  • Minimum of five years work experience in a clinical practice in a setting which includes active participation in an EMT relationship.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Supervisory or management experience.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Knowledge and/or experience using a variety of instructional delivery modes.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Pay Rate: $675- $800 per credit hour
