College of the Mainland is seeking adjunct instructors who will play a key role in educating and supporting students in the Dental Assistant program.

Minimum Requirements
  1. High School Diploma; Equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job
  2. 3 years experience working as a Registered Dental Assistant
  3. 1 year experience teaching or training other Dental Assistants
  4. Current RDA license
  5. Principles and practices of teaching
  6. Detailed knowledge of material being taught
  7. Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with students, coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction
  8. Working knowledge of working in a higher education setting
Preferred Education/Training/Experience
  1. Associate’s Degree or higher
  2. CPR Instructor certified through the College of the Mainland CTC
  3. 3 years experience teaching or training

Job Duties
  1. Prepare and distribute syllabi which inform students about course requirements, grading requirements, testing assignments, attendance policy, and other information for each course assigned.
  2. Prepare, administer, and grade assignments, assessments and examinations in a timely manner to inform students about their progress.
  3. Encourage use of support services by students.
  4. Follow procedures related to the CE office and COM policies, including grade reports and deadlines; attendance record reports; withdrawal deadlines; class changes and time and room scheduling.
  5. Maintain the lab space as needed to ensure the appropriate supplies are on hand and accessible.

Physical Requirements

Positions in this class typically require: stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
