Job summary

Gateway Technical College invites applicants for an Adjunct Instructor, Data Analytics (BWS) to deliver on-campus data analytics courses, guide students and support workforce-ready skills. Courses are assigned by department needs, with flexible day/evening/weekend hours and traditional face-to-face format.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's in CS/IS/Tech or an Associate in Data Analytics with relevant work hours; and substantial recent occupational experience or teaching experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Systems/Technology, Management Computer Systems, Programming, Software Development, Data Analytics or Artificial Intelligence with 2+ years or 4,000 hours of verified occupational experience.
  • Associate degree in Data Analytics with 4+ years or 8,000 hours of verified occupational experience.
  • At least 2,000 hours of verified occupational experience within the last five years OR two years of full-time postsecondary teaching experience in the last five years.

  • Plan and deliver instruction that fulfills curriculum goals and objectives.
  • Prepare course syllabi with requirements, attendance and grading criteria.
  • Adhere to class schedules and maintain attendance standards.
  • Assess student progress and provide advising and support.

Adjunct Instructor, Data Analytics (BWS)

Help students build practical data analytics skills that support their academic goals, career development and success in the workforce.

Compensation

$45 - $51/hr

Location

District-wide in Kenosha, Racine and Walworth Counties, Wisconsin.

Employment Type

Adjunct part-time; temporary assignments on a course-by-course basis

Schedule

Flexible availability is needed to accommodate day, evening and weekend students. Hours vary by course and student enrollment.

Traditional face-to-face instruction on campus unless otherwise indicated

Make an Impact Through Data Analytics Education

This posting will create a pool of qualified applicants who may be considered, as needed, for temporary adjunct teaching assignments. This is not a full-time position. Adjunct instructors provide student-centered instruction, advising and support on a course-by-course basis.

Position Overview

Gateway Technical College invites applicants who are committed to higher education and to empowering individuals to achieve academic and career goals that lead to a competent workforce.

Adjunct faculty are temporary, part-time instructors hired to provide instruction, student advising and student support. Courses are assigned based on departmental needs and are subject to student enrollment.

Unless otherwise indicated, courses are delivered in a traditional face-to-face format on campus and not online. This instructor reports to the Dean, Business Workforce Solutions.

What You Will Do
Plan and Deliver Instruction
  • Plan and teach courses that fulfill current curriculum goals and objectives.
  • Prepare a course syllabus that includes course requirements, attendance requirements and grading criteria.
  • Adhere to class schedules and meet attendance standards.
  • Remain current in practices, trends and research related to the assigned area of specialization.
  • Use appropriate assessment techniques to measure student progress toward course goals and objectives.
Support Student Success
  • Assess student performance and advise students on academic issues.
  • Identify students who need additional instruction to successfully complete course objectives.
  • Provide additional instruction to students as needed.
  • Check email or Brightspace for student rosters and other required information.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student matters.
Contribute to the College Community
  • Participate in college, campus and department evaluation processes.
  • Attend adjunct faculty meetings as scheduled.
  • Interact constructively with resident faculty.
  • Promote the education and training program.
  • Participate in efforts to recruit and retain students and market Gateway.
  • Comply with college policies, procedures and department guidelines.

What You Need to Succeed
Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must meet one of the following qualification pathways:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Systems/Technology, Management Computer Systems, Programming, Software Development, Data Analytics or Artificial Intelligence, plus at least 2 years or 4,000 hours of verified occupational experience;
  • OR an Associate degree in Data Analytics, plus at least 4 years or 8,000 hours of verified occupational experience.

Included in the experience above, at least 2,000 hours of verified occupational experience must have been completed within the last five years, or the applicant must have at least two years of full-time postsecondary teaching experience, or eight semesters of part-time postsecondary teaching experience, in the occupational field within the last five years.

  • Employment is contingent upon an acceptable background check.

  • Participation in competency-based professional development through the Faculty Quality Assurance System (FQAS) is required.
  • Flexibility is required to accommodate day, evening and weekend students.
  • Annual attendance at Gateway Technical College Adjunct Faculty In-Service is required.
  • Gateway Technical College does not provide relocation assistance.
Work Authorization

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available.
