The Chronicle of Higher Education, Inc. is seeking an Adjunct Instructor in Chemistry at the Northwest Campus to teach across varied modalities including dual credit, on-campus, online and weekend courses.

This part-time role supports student success and utilizes college resources and technology. Responsibilities include delivering instruction, preparing assessments, communicating with students and staff, and maintaining LMS-based materials consistent with the College Master Syllabus.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or higher in one of the listed chemistry disciplines.
  • 18 graduate hours in one of the above disciplines
  • Degree from a regionally accredited college or university

Responsibilities

  • Accepts and teaches classes based on varied schedules and modalities (Dual Credit, On-Campus, Online or Weekend College).
  • Prepares and delivers instruction following the College Master Syllabus using the LMS.
  • Communicates regularly with students and college officials, including responding to emails, calls, and meetings requests.
  • Prepares assignments and assessments to ensure learning outcomes.
  • Maintains an active classroom environment conducive to student learning and success.
  • Maintains attendance records and certifies enrollments by deadlines.
  • Evaluates student performance per discipline standards and posts grades weekly.
  • Provides timely evaluation feedback and submits final grades by deadline.
  • Assigns grades consistent with course requirements.
  • Supports assessment of student learning outcomes and program outcomes.
  • Accepts assignments at other sites for dual credit courses.

Job Summary

Reporting to the campus department instructional leader, adjunctinstructors provide assistance to students in their learningprocess by utilizing all appropriate college resources, materials,facilities, and educational technologies available to complementthe teaching and learning process providing a direct impact tostudent success.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Performance Requirements*

  • Accepts and teaches classes based on varied schedules andmodalities (Dual Credit, On-Campus, Online or Weekend College) asassigned by designated supervisor
  • Accommodates student needs and external stakeholders'expectations of the College
  • Prepares and delivers instruction to students following theCollege Master Syllabus using the approved learning managementsystem
  • Communicates regularly with students and college officials,including responding to e-mails, calls, and requests formeetings
  • Independently pursues activities to enhance subject matterexpertise, skills in various modes of instruction, and knowledge oflearning
  • Prepares assignments and assessments to assure achievement oflearning outcomes
  • Designs and maintains an active classroom environment conduciveto student learning and success
  • Maintains student attendance records weekly and certifies studentenrollments by the established deadline
  • Evaluates student performance and learning in accordance withdiscipline and department standards
  • Provides regular and timely evaluation feedback to students,posts grades in the learning management system weekly, and submitsfinal grades by the established deadline
  • Assigns grades consistent with course requirements
  • Assists in College's commitment to assessing student learningoutcomes and program learning outcomes and to achievinginstitutional performance measures
  • Accepts assignments as necessary at other sites such as for dualcredit courses
Service Excellence
  • Supports the mission, values, goals, and principles of theCollege
  • Complete all required training and professional developmentsessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC)
  • Attends the workplace regularly and follows a work schedule tokeep up with the demands of the worksite

Required Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree or higher* in ONE of the followingdisciplines:
    • Chemistry
    • Biochemistry
    • Chemical Engineering
    • Medicinal Chemistry
  • OR
    • Master's degree or higher* with eighteen (18) graduate hours in ONEof the above-mentioned disciplines
  • *Degree must be from a regionally accredited college oruniversity
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least one (1) years' working experience in the discipline /teaching area
  • At least one (1) years' experience teaching a class at thecollege level
  • At least one (1) years' experience teaching Chemistry lectureand/or laboratory courses
  • At least one (1) years' teaching experience utilizing activelearning techniques, service learning and innovativetechnology
  • At least one (1) year's experience teaching in Dual Credit andEarly College High School programs
  • At least one (1) year's experience teaching online
