Position Overview

We are seeking experienced practitioners with an advanced degree (MA, MPA, MPP, JD, PhD, etc.) to teach a 1 credit course in Washington D.C. for 5 weeks during the Spring 2027 semester. The semester’s interdisciplinary theme is “Health, Wellness, and Sustainability” and how these broad themes intersect with public policy locally, federally, and internationally.

Ideas for course topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Politics of US healthcare
  • Environmental politics, law, and policy
  • Emergency management, community resilience and recovery from disaster
  • Politics of food and hunger
  • Environment & theology
  • Urban design, sustainable city planning, public transit, role of municipal and local governments
  • Water quality, watersheds, and water health
  • Preservation (of history, art, national parks, etc.)
  • Mental health
  • Environmental impacts of AI and tech
  • Energy policy (renewable, oil, natural gas, fracking, tariffs, trade, etc.)
  • Economics of happiness
  • UN Sustainable Development Goals for 2030
  • Consumer protection and oversight
  • Criminal rehabilitation and restorative justice
  • Disability studies
  • Sustainability and climate change
Duties and Responsibilities

To teach, you will need to have availability once a week for five consecutive weeks during the Spring 2027 semester. Classes will be held on Thursdays (12:30pm‑3pm, 3:30pm‑6pm, or 6:30pm – 9pm) or Fridays (9:30am‑12pm or 12:30 pm‑3 pm).

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Masters Degree preferred or substantial progress toward the terminal degree.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

5 or more years of professional experience in the field or subject area of the course.
