Description

The Health and Wellness program at Iona University is seeking an experienced, knowledgeable, and student-focused adjunct instructor to teach one or more laboratory sections of HS 136 and HS 137 Human Anatomy and Physiology I and/or II during the 2025-2026 academic year (renewable per semester). This introductory course for nursing and health science majors covers basic anatomy and physiology of the human body. We are seeking a proactive, innovative, and engaging individual who can integrate various technologies into their teaching (i.e., Blackboard Ultra, Anatomage, 3D4medical Anatomy). The individual will teach demonstrating laboratory techniques and utilize materials including anatomy models.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Laboratory Instruction: Lead lab sessions, guiding students in hands-on exploration of anatomy and physiology topics such as skeletal, muscular, nervous, cardiovascular, and other major body systems.
  2. Assessment: Administer and grade lab assignments, quizzes, and practical exams to evaluate student understanding of course material.
  3. Student Support: Provide guidance and answer questions during lab sessions, fostering an engaging and supportive learning atmosphere.
  4. Safety Compliance: Uphold all safety standards and protocols in the lab, ensuring proper handling of equipment and specimens.
  5. Collaboration: Coordinate with lecture instructors to ensure lab activities reinforce course content and align with curriculum goals.
Qualifications

Qualifications:

  1. Education: Master’s degree in Biology, Anatomy, Physiology, or a related field is required; candidates with relevant professional experience are encouraged to apply.
  2. Experience: Prior teaching or laboratory experience in anatomy and physiology at the college level is preferred.
  3. Skills: Proficiency in laboratory practices and safety, effective communication, and the ability to engage students in active learning.
  4. Commitment: A passion for teaching and a commitment to student success in a diverse academic environment.
