Responsibilities
  • Teaching college credit courses
  • Assigning final grades
  • Assisting with program development
  • Recruiting and implementing department objectives
  • Participating in college committees and assisting with student organizations
  • Supporting professional advisory committees
  • Assuming day or evening teaching assignments on four-county college campuses as required by scheduled courses
  • Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours to meet with students
  • Instructing classes with software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, QuarkXPress, Adobe Premiere, Avid, Web design and animation, and related video/sound editing tools
  • Grading quizzes, tests, and written assignments; delivering final grades with justification sheets
  • Maintaining a safe and effective classroom environment
  • Adopting new versions of software as they appear in the market
  • Developing new courses to align with the changing Graphics and Digital Media curriculum
  • Assisting with recruitment, retention, completion, and placement of students
  • Maintaining laboratories in a clean, organized, and healthful condition conducive to learning
  • Creating promotional materials and assisting in recruitment of new students
  • Participating in department, division, and general adjunct faculty meetings
  • Staying current in emerging technologies related to the field
  • Completing other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications, Knowledge and Skill Requirements
  • Master’s degree in Graphic Design, Digital Media, or related field
  • Teaching experience and at least three years of documented industry experience in Graphic Design, Video Production, Computer Animation, Game Development or Web Publishing preferred
  • Demonstrated expertise in the use of Adobe products for Graphic Design, Web Design, and non-linear video editing (Premiere, After Effects, or others)
  • Digital Media candidates should demonstrate expertise in 3D software such as Autodesk Maya, Mudbox, or Zbrush
  • All instructors must meet the credentialing requirements of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS)
Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to sit or stand for extended periods, walk, bend, lift, reach, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of 25 pounds. It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines. IRSC expects employees to follow proper safety standards.
