Job description

OVERVIEW:

The core mission of Southeastern Institute is to provide targeted educational services that meet community needs. The role of campus Faculty members is to engage students, foster learning, role model professionalism, and ultimately produce competently trained students prepared for professional careers.

BUSINESS CONTRIBUTIONS: Faculty and instructional staff are responsible for leveraging their expertise to deliver education services to students through:

  1. Delivering course lectures
  2. Facilitating student engagement
  3. Working one-on-one with students
  4. Assessing students and providing developmental feedback

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Prepare Course Plans and Materials:

  1. Review Course Control Document (CCD)
  2. Prepare syllabus
  3. Create lesson plans
  4. Create exams, quizzes, and projects/assignments
  5. Coordinate with librarian and bookstore for availability of materials

Deliver Courses:

  1. Administer pre-test/post-test
  2. Deliver lectures/facilitate labs
  3. Grade projects and exams
  4. Provide progress reports/mid-term feedback
  5. Maintain grade book
  6. Enforce policies (attendance, dress code, no food and drink...)

Monitor Progress/Attendance:

  1. Monitor student progress and follow-up as needed
  2. Take daily attendance and enforce attendance policy
  3. Follow-up with students who miss a class (phone calls)
  4. Report attendance issues to the Dean

Advise Students:

  1. Answer student questions
  2. Be available for one-on-one assistance/tutoring

Record Grades and Submit Reports:

  1. Maintain grade books
  2. Adhere to departmental grading policies
  3. Provide Dean with weekly reports
  4. Provide students with mid-term evaluations
  5. Submit final grades

Other Duties - Adjunct and Full-time Faculty:

  1. Monitor equipment and supply needs
  2. Maintain classroom
  3. Maintain any relevant licensures and certifications
  4. Seek out an approved substitute in case of faculty member's need for absence
  5. Participate in graduation ceremonies
  6. Work with Dean, Associate Dean, and other Faculty on retention plans and programs

Other Duties - Full-time Faculty:

  1. Attend campus faculty meetings
  2. Work with Program Coordinators
  3. Participate in committees and knowledge sharing forums
  4. Prepare for and participate in convocation

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands are those required in a professional office setting and higher education teaching environment: communicating with coworkers, presenting to a classroom of students (virtual classrooms for on-line), demonstrating procedures and techniques, and getting to and from appropriate classes and offices.

LOCATION:

This position is a remote position. Any changes must be reviewed by the Campus President/Vice President and all final approvals must come from the Chancellor and/or designee.
