Adjunct Faculty, SLEA Basic Police Academy Instructor - 2024

COD faculty are committed to facilitating and supporting student success in learning. We strive to meet the individual educational needs of our unique, multicultural campus.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Adjunct faculty at College of DuPage are responsible for course planning and instruction in classroom, lab, or clinical settings. Courses may be conducted in various formats, such as face-to-face, online, hybrid, or blended. Responsibilities also include student evaluation and the timely, accurate submission of required paperwork.

Required Qualifications:
  • Develop, organize, market, and teach the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board (ILETSB) curriculum for the Suburban Law Enforcement Academy.
  • Provide classroom instruction or role-playing experiences to police recruits. Experience in law enforcement is preferred.
  • Possess the educational background and/or experience necessary to meet instructional demands.
  • Have personal integrity and a sincere interest in imparting knowledge and experience.
  • Experience developing and teaching curriculum.
  • Be a self-starter and work well in a team environment.
  • Be comfortable with public speaking.
  • In your cover letter, discuss any experience with online and/or hybrid teaching, as well as training in learner-centered pedagogical practices.

Ability to teach remotely using technology and experience in online or virtual teaching are preferred. Access to personal technology and a home computer capable of online teaching are required.

These positions are paid via stipends per course.
