The School of Liberal Arts and Sciences provides the foundation for an FIT degree, committed to providing a broad-based general education for FIT students, integrating traditional academic study with career preparation. Home to seven academic departments, 17 minors, and two interdisciplinary majors, our faculty prepare students to become reflective, critical, and engaged citizens of the world.

Job Description:

The History of Art department is recruiting a pool of applicants for possible adjunct teaching positions. Successful candidates will teach one or more of the following fashion history survey courses:

  • HA 118 - Introduction to Fashion History: Materials, Motifs & Meanings
  • HA 119 - World Textiles: History and Culture
  • HA 201 - History of Fashion Photography
  • HA 215 - History of Menswear in Europe and North America
  • HA 237 - Global Fashion: Ancient Origins to Modern Styles
  • HA 342 - History of Textile Design
  • HA 344 - European Fashion: Ancient Origins to Modern Styles
  • HA 347 - Costume and Fashion in Film

Adjunct instructors deliver relevant course material, assess student performance, provide guidance and assistance to students both in and out of the classroom, and submit grades on time.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Candidates must have an earned Master's degree, as well as thirty (30) additional and appropriate graduate credits and/or evidence of scholarly achievement, professional activities, and teaching experience. The requirement for the Master's Degree may be waived if the candidate is in a doctoral program in which the Master's Degree is not required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD or other terminal degree in a related field is preferred.

Additional Information:

This is a part-time position, adjunct teaching position beginning in Spring 2025. Review of applications will commence immediately and continue until the position is filled. The department will keep this posting open to create a pool of candidates for potential future adjunct assignments.

$84.60 per hour based on minimum qualifications. The final rate, step and appointment rank are determined by a candidate's ability to demonstrate that they meet the respective school's additional criteria for hiring "above the first step," in accordance with the CBA Adjunct Salary Schedules.
