Job summary

Eastern Iowa Community College District seeks an adjunct instructor to teach Anatomy and Physiology at the Dewitt Career Advancement Center. The role requires delivering course content, assessing learning outcomes, and supporting student success within a community college setting.

The position is part-time and compensates at $700.00 per credit hour, with EICC retirees paid $1,000 per credit hour. A master's in Anatomy & Physiology plus 600 hours in the field are required, and teaching experience

Qualifications

  • Preferred: Previous teaching experience.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses in Anatomy and Physiology and assess learning outcomes.
  • Collaborate in curriculum development and revision as needed.
  • Meet scheduled classes and attend faculty, college, district, and advisory meetings.
  • Ensure student outcomes are achieved and provide regular feedback on performance.
  • Refer students to Academic Support and Student Services as needed.
  • Serve as a student academic advisor and develop/ administer assessment instruments.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, progress and grade records; plan effective learning strategies.

Job Description

Responsible for teaching courses and assessing learning outcomes in the area of Anatomy and Physiology. Must demonstrate excellence in teaching and service, must demonstrate a commitment to the mission and values of the community college.

Class schedules we are looking to fill: MWF 8 - 9am & Tuesday 8 - 10am; M/F 1:40 - 2:40pm Tuesday 1 - 3pm & Thursday 1 - 2pm both sections in DeWitt CAC

Location: Dewitt Career Advancement Center (DCAC)

Required Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: The minimum requirement is a master's in Anatomy & Physiology, and 600 hours in Anatomy & Physiology field.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous teaching experience

Physical Demands

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The teacher must see and hear on a continuous basis as well as speak frequently. Positions may vary from standing, sitting, or walking.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teach courses in accordance with outcomes identified in the established course development model. Teaching assignments may include varying delivery formats and methods.
  • Collaborate in the development and revision of curriculum as needed.
  • Meet promptly with scheduled classes.
  • Attend and participate in all scheduled faculty, college, district, and advisory meetings unless excused by the Academic Dean.
  • Assure that student outcomes are achieved in each course.
  • Evaluate and record student performance and achievement on a regular basis and provide regular student feedback.
  • Refer students to Academic Support and Student Services as needed and meet recommended student/instructional accommodations as required.
  • Serve as a student academic advisor.
  • Develop and administer assessment instruments to validate student outcome achievement.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, progress and grade records of all students.
  • Effectively plan and implement learning strategies appropriate for meeting student outcomes.
  • Analyze results of planning and teaching and make appropriate revisions.
  • Assist college in the recruitment and retention of students.
  • Actively serve as a departmental team member in effecting change fostering continual educational improvement.
  • Maintain currency of professional skills to continually enhance instructional skills.
  • Regularly engage in professional learning activities and actively seek information about developing trends and ideas.
  • Is committed to providing quality service that meets or exceeds the expectations of students and internal/external stakeholders.
  • Complete other job duties unique to your area as assigned by the academic dean.
