Adjunct Faculty Open Rank - Social & Behavioral Sciences

Medgar Evers College (MEC), a nationally recognized leader in urban-serving education, is one of twenty three colleges within the dynamic City University New York (CUNY) System. Named for the late civil rights leader, Medgar Wiley Evers (1925-1963), the College's mission is to develop and maintain high quality, professional, career-oriented undergraduate degree programs in the context of liberal education. Located in Central Brooklyn, MEC was established in 1970 with a mandate to meet the educational and social needs of the Central Brooklyn community, currently enrolling 7,000 students in degree programs. Students represent 105 countries around the world! MEC students obtain Associate degrees in eight fields, and Baccalaureate degrees in 18 fields. The College is committed to a student-centered education and advancing knowledge through scholarly research.

The School of Liberal Arts (SoLA) prepares students to achieve their highest academic and career goals through engagement in a learning community endowed with a rich and diverse Liberal Arts curriculum that fosters scholarly excellence, cultural awareness, and social responsibility. SoLA is seeking Adjuncts for the Fall 2026 semester to perform teaching, research and guidance duties in the following disciplines: English, Philosophy and Religion, Social and Behavioral Sciences, and Mass Communication. They share responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions. Candidates must be able to teach assigned courses and hold office hours.

The mission of the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences is to provide students with the essential academic knowledge and skills necessary for rigorous undergraduate study, and subsequent entry into the graduate and professional schools and career advancement. The Department is committed to increasing the relevance and usefulness of the social and behavioral sciences to students, to other disciplines, and to the local community.

There is an immediate need for Adjunct Faculty for the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences to teach in the following areas: Cultural Anthropology, Geography, History, Political Science, Philosophy & Religion Research Methods and Statistics for Behavioral Sciences, Sociology and Social Sciences. QUALIFICATIONS

For Adjunct Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Full Professor:

Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required is the ability to teach successfully.

Bachelor's degree in area(s) of expertise, and the ability to teach successfully.
