Job summary

Broward College in sunny South Florida is seeking a part-time musician/teacher to join the Central Academic Visual & Performing Arts department. The successful candidate will demonstrate mastery of their discipline and support student success through engaging pedagogy.

Minimum education includes a Master’s in Music (or a Master’s with 18 graduate hours in Music; Ph.D. preferred) along with high computer literacy and a commitment to teaching. Some evening or weekend hours may be required.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Music or Master’s with 18 graduate semester hours in Music; Ph.D. preferred.
• Prior college teaching experience is preferred.
• High level of computer literacy and a commitment to teaching.
• All schedules require office hours and some may require evening and/or weekend hours.

• Employ teaching methods to accommodate various levels of academic preparation and incorporate appropriate and engaging technology across different modalities of instruction to facilitate student learning.
• Facilitate the needs of different learners across programs by implementing responsive pedagogical techniques and effective practices for engaging students.
• Have a willingness to examine and adapt one’s instructional, relational, and classroom practices to more effectively engage and support students.
• Engage in student consultation, course preparation, review of course outlines, and preparation of course syllabi.
• Provide prompt and constructive support to students through regular office hours and timely feedback on assessments and activities.
• Provide prompt feedback to student emails.
• Adhere to all reporting deadlines such as grade processing, enrollment verification, syllabus submission, and textbook adoption.
• Participate in service to the college and its community.

Salary
