Job description

Basic Responsibilities
  • A. Provide high-quality instruction, direction and support for students in the classroom environment.
  • B. When requested attend departmental/team meetings to participate with the program faculty in planning, and development of program and curriculum.
Essential Duties
  • A. Provide high quality instruction, direction and support for students in the classroom environment.
  • 1. Facilitate a range of class sizes, up to 25 students, which may include dividing the class into sections for discussion and group activities.
  • 2. Provide rich and timely feedback on student work, being both encouraging and constructively critical.
  • 3. Hold a minimum of two office hours per week, and be available by appointment for in-person or virtual meetings with students individually or in groups.
  • 4. Provide timely and helpful answers to students’ inquiries outside of class time, regarding course material or academic matters.
  • 5. Enter final course grades by deadline, after consultation with lead faculty and/or program director.
  • 6. Alert department chair and/or program director to any student issues. This includes performance issues (e.g. failing grades, failing to turn in assignments, etc.) and policy violation issues (e.g. plagiarism).
  • 7. Comply with all pertinent policies and procedures outlined in Abilene Christian University’s Handbook, Faculty Guidelines, and those specified by ACU’s College of Biblical Studies.
  • 8. Provide feedback to program director for program and/or course improvement.
  • 9. Attend/complete program and faculty trainings and provide credentialing/records updates as required.
  • 10. Other duties, as assigned and directed by lead faculty and/or program director.

Qualifications

  • 1. Relevant education and experience: must have at least 18 hours of graduate education in marriage and family therapy or a related field, and particular experience relevant to the courses assigned.
  • 2. Computer literacy in common software and internet-based applications.
  • 3. Commitment to the ACU Mission and policies and to the integration of faith and learning.

  • A. Must be capable of meeting the physical demands required for teaching in the classroom and/or online.

  • D. Communicate clearly: speak, read, write, and hear clearly to perform essential functions.
