Job description

Position Overview

At Hofstra University, the School of Education invites applications for an adjunct faculty position to lead our Literacy Studies Practicum courses in the Department of Specialized Programs. The role includes teaching formative reading and writing evaluations, assessment‑driven instructional planning, collaborative learning, multimodal literacy invitations, and strategy assessments. Candidates will also supervise interns in the small‑group literacy support clinic.

Responsibilities
  • Teach Literacy Studies Practicum courses focused on formative assessment, multimodal literacy instruction, and collaborative learning.
  • Design and implement assessment‑driven instructional plans incorporating literature engagement and strategy assessment.
  • Supervise and mentor interns in small‑group literacy support for readers at the Reading/Writing Learning Clinic.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to promote equity, diversity, and inclusion in the learning environment.
Qualifications
  • An earned MSED in Literacy Studies with NY State Literacy Specialist Certification is required.
  • Initial certification in ELED or secondary education is required.
