Job summary

The University of Pikeville in Kentucky seeks part-time faculty for the Kentucky College of Optometry as an academic lecturer and lab instructor. The University of Pikeville maintains a pool of part-time faculty who are passionate about teaching and student learning. This application is for a position in the Kentucky College of Optometry as an academic lecturer and lab instructor.

We are currently seeking faculty in the following fields as well as faculty who can provide expertise in:

  • Clinical Methods
  • Basic Sciences
  • Specialty Optometric Care
Responsibilities
  • Teaching the assigned course/s, uploading course materials to UPIKE’s learning management system, entering student grades, proving appropriate assessments and adhering to all related deadlines and policies.
  • Tutoring and mentoring students as needed.
  • Regular and responsive communication with the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and the Assistant Dean for Curriculum and Assessment.
Requirements
  • Must have an OD degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience or residency training.
  • Must have excellent organizational, communication, teaching and decision‑making skills.
