Work Location
  • All positions are considered on-site roles.
  • After six months of employment, some positions may be eligibleto apply for a hybrid work arrangement based on jobresponsibilities, operational needs, supervisor approval, andDallas College policy.
  • Academic (Faculty) positions require an on-campus presence,even when teaching online courses, in accordance with statelaw.

Position Type Faculty

All positions are considered on-site roles. After six months ofemployment, employees may have the opportunity to apply for a hybrid work schedule. Academic positions (Faculty) requireon-campus presence, even if the role involves teaching onlineclasses, in accordance with state law.

Position Summary

Teaches students effectively in assigned classes and maintainsoffice hours for student consultation.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to interactwith students.
  • Demonstrated skills in successfully working with diversepopulations through experiences such as formal training and pastwork experiences.
  • The ability to provide quality customer service.
Physical Requirements

May be required to lift and move materials and equipment weighingup to 50 pounds.

Minimum Qualifications
  • For credit classes transferable towards a higher degree:Master’s degree or higher and at least 18 graduate hours in theteaching discipline for credit courses.
  • For workforce education degree or certificate courses: acombination of academic preparation and work experience, includingthree (3) years of direct or related work experience other thanteaching.
  • For developmental courses: Bachelor’s degree or higher in thespecific teaching discipline and demonstrated competency (i.e.,teaching experience, honors, graduate course work or other relatedaccomplishments). Official transcripts will be required at time ofinterview.
  • Bilingual or multilingual preferred.

Will be subject to a criminal background check. Somepositions may be subject to a fingerprint check.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provides students with a written course syllabus.
  • Participates in the evaluation of the instructional process anduses innovative strategies to continually improve learning.
  • Participates in development and support of their discipline byrecommending books and materials, revising curricula, andrecommending teaching assignments when appropriate.
  • Maintains accurate and complete course records.
  • Performs professional activities and assumes professionalresponsibilities as agreed upon with the division dean and workswith colleagues to achieve shared goals and visions.
  • Values the collaborative process.
  • Uses knowledge of diverse communities and learning styles toincorporate delivery of learning styles in instruction.
  • Participates in student advising and registration.
  • Utilizes technology to facilitate learning and to access data,maintain records, generate reports, and communicate withothers.
  • Meets professional assignments in accordance with the System’scalendar and contractual obligations.
  • Complies with Dallas College board policies, state and federalpolicy, and the student code of conduct as appropriate.
  • Commits to college mission and goals through participating inplanning division objectives and budget requests.
  • Serves on and attends college committees as assigned.
  • Participates in campus commencement exercise(s) as required andattends other required college meetings and activities.
  • Participates in his/her own performance appraisal.
  • Demonstrates ability to work effectively with persons fromdiverse backgrounds.
  • May work with student clubs and/or organizations.
  • Demonstrates verbal and written communication skills to supportand enhance effective interaction between Dallas College and otherorganizations, businesses and community groups as well as faculty,staff and students.
  • Promotes the college in the community by participating in avariety of marketing activities.
  • Participates in professional development activities.
  • Completes required Dallas College Professional Developmenttraining hours per academic year.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
