Job summary

Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana in Indianapolis seeks Adjunct Faculty to teach on campus, delivering courses and providing assessment within assigned syllabi. This part-time, on-site role supports adult learners in a learning-focused environment.

Facilitating engaging classes, maintaining records, and collaborating with faculty are core duties. The position is contingent on class needing instructors each semester and adheres to FERPA and college policies to foster student success.

Qualifications

  • Earned bachelor or higher degree, preferably in areas such as education, leadership or psychology.
  • Experience instructing, teaching or guiding adult students/clients.
  • Ability to promote an environment reflecting our diverse student backgrounds and ensure all feel respected and valued.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver assigned classes in alignment with College policy and course objectives.
  • Utilize available technology to enhance instructional methods.
  • Adapt lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials as needed.
  • Maintain accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
  • Engage with students proactively to create a positive Ivy Tech experience.
  • Develop teaching strategies that actively engage students in learning.
  • Interact professionally with students and colleagues per policies and expectations.
  • Maintain a safe, high-quality educational environment.

About the Role

Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis.

Adjunct Faculty are responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided.

This role is only for teaching classes in-person, on campus, in the Indianapolis service area, not asynchronous online sections.

Major Responsibilities
  • Facilitate student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
  • Make optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.
  • Supplement and alter, where appropriate, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials.
  • Maintain accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
  • Engage with students proactively and regularly in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and lead to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College.
  • Demonstrate evidence of developing and implementing teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning.
  • Interact with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complying with College policies, guidelines and expectations.
  • Maintain a safe, quality educational environment.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to promote an environment that reflects the broad backgrounds represented by our students and employees in which every individual feels respected and valued.

  • All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.
Education and Experience
  • Possesses an earned bachelor or higher degree, preferably in areas such as education, leadership or psychology.
  • Have experience instructing, teaching or guiding adult students/clients.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to promote an environment that reflects the broad backgrounds represented by our students, in which every individual feels respected and valued.
  • Provide content-centered instruction in an ON CAMPUS setting, with a focus on interactive application of the objectives within Student Success.
