Job summary

Job description

Ivy Tech seeks qualified adjunct faculty to supplement the Information Technology instruction needs of our students at the Evansville, IN campus. This role will teach student going into a wide variety of IT roles including Cyber Security and Information Assurance. Adjunct Faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions hired each semester on an as-needed basis. The adjunct faculty member will be responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided by the School.

Major Responsibilities

Candidates considered for adjunct positions under this postings must be able to provide instruction in person at the Evansville, IN campus.

PROGRAM OPERATION

Perform all instructional duties necessary to teach and facilitate student learning in assigned classes. Provide syllabus appropriate to course(s) being taught to students and follows syllabus content and requirements. Maintain student attendance and grading records according to College policy as outlined in the Adjunct Handbook. Submits requested information within established timelines.

STUDENTS

Is available to students outside scheduled class time to answer questions/provide assistance. Deal with student concerns and, if necessary, consult with program coordinator to resolve issues.

INSTRUCTION

Meet all scheduled classes of contracted course(s). Use technology such as Blackboard, PowerPoint, etc. as appropriate. In event of emergency absence, notifies program/department chair. Conduct all activities with an appreciation and respect for diversity of people, styles, and views. Promote same as an integral part of one's work. The above list of duties is not to be construed as an exhaustive list. Other duties associated with the position may be assigned.

Hiring Range

$45.00 per contact hour (approximately $2,160 per 8-week course). Work Hours: Adjunct Faculty positions typically begin at the start of semesters or the midpoint: January, March, August, or October.. Specific hours will depend on classes assigned but may include evenings.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be located to teach in-person at the Evansville, IN campus
  • A qualified faculty member in Information Technology Support (ITSP) meets the program standard through one of three routes:
  • Possesses an earned master’s degree or higher, from a regionally accredited institution, in information technology as appropriate to the program; or
  • Possesses an earned related or out-of-field master’s degree, from a regionally accredited institution, with documentation in two or more of the following: Professional certification (national, regional, or state) in the field Two years of in-field professional employment Documented evidence of information technology teaching excellence including date of award Documentation of research and publication in the field Documented relevant additional information technology coursework beyond the bachelor’s degree, equivalent to 18 semester hours or equivalent subject matter coursework, CEU’s, vendor, or military; or
  • Possesses an earned bachelor’s degree, from a regionally accredited institution, in information technology or related field as appropriate to the program, with documentation in two or more of the following: Professional certification (national, regional, or state) in the field Two years of in-field professional employment Documented evidence of teaching excellence in information technology, including date of award Documentation of research and publication in the field Documented relevant information technology coursework in addition to the bachelor’s degree, equivalent to 18 semester hours or equivalent subject matter coursework, CEU’s, vendor, or military.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience as faculty in higher education.
  • A non-expired CompTIA A+ Certification or higher Information Technology certification
  • Professional certification (national, regional, or state) in the information technology field
  • Four years of professional employment in the information technology field
  • Documentation of research and publication in the field
  • Documented relevant additional coursework in Information Technology equivalent to 18 semester hours or equivalent subject matter coursework, CEUs, vendor, or military
  • K12 Teaching endorsement in Information Technology related pathway.
