Job summary

WSU Tech in Wichita, Kansas is seeking an Adjunct Faculty Instructor to provide subject matter expertise and to teach courses per approved syllabi. The role involves ensuring course content is current, maintaining professional standards, and delivering engaging instruction across scheduled classes.

The instructor will design lessons, integrate instructional technologies, and support students with diverse learning needs to maximize outcomes and success in the course.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in related field required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • IT industry recognized certifications preferred.
  • 3–5 years full-time work experience in industry preferred.
  • Ability to work professionally with staff, students, administration and others.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Takes responsibility and promotes collaboration between day and evening program faculty.

Responsibilities

  • Files an appropriate course syllabus for each course taught within the LMS course shell.
  • Ensures curricular components exist, content is current, and pedagogy is appropriate.
  • Maintains high level of subject matter expertise and stimulates enthusiasm for the subjects.
  • Teaches according to the approved syllabus and holds classes as scheduled; honors exam times as scheduled.
  • Keeps students informed about course content, requirements, evaluation procedures, and attendance.
  • Designs unit and lesson plans, integrates instructional technologies, and organizes courses to maximize learning outcomes.

Job description

Overview

The Adjunct Faculty Instructor provides subject matter expertise. Additional responsibility to teach courses, adhering to lesson plans, meeting course objectives, beginning and ending courses on time as scheduled and adhering to academic faculty ethical and professional behaviors.

Responsibilities

Your day-to-day responsibilities will vary, but are not limited to:

  • Files an appropriate course syllabus for each course taught within the course shell of the appropriate Learning Management System.
  • Ensures that each program/class contains essential curricular components, has appropriate content and pedagogy, and maintains currency.
  • Maintains a high level of expertise in the subjects taught and stimulates enthusiasm for those subjects.
  • Teaches all classes according to an approved course syllabus, ensuring that assigned classes are held as scheduled. Holds the final exam at the time scheduled unless permission to deviate has been approved by the department Dean/Director.
  • Keeps students informed and updated concerning course content, requirements, evaluation procedures and attendance requirements.
  • The instructor meticulously designs every unit and lesson, ensuring both the content and delivery methods are engaging and purposeful. They adeptly integrate instructional technologies into their teaching approach. Each course they teach is meticulously organized to optimize learning outcomes. By understanding and catering to students' diverse learning styles, they create an environment conducive to effective teaching and learning, maximizing opportunities for every student to succeed.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in related field, required. Bachelors degree in related field, preferred.
  • Information Technology industry recognized certifications, preferred
  • Minimum of 3-5 years full-time work experience in industry preferred.
  • The ability to work professionally with staff, students, administration and others.
  • The ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.
