Embry-Riddle's Worldwide campus is currently hiring adjunct faculty to teach SCTY 400 - Aviation Security in person at our Pax River, MD campus.

Course Description

Investigation into specific facets of security in aviation, including physical and procedural controls, regulations by the Department of Homeland Security, TSA, FAA, ICAO, and international treaties. Topics include current threats, counter-terrorism measures, new technologies, and the importance of the aviation industry to the global economy.

Please note that ERAU policy requires all adjuncts to be physically located within the United States during employment, including training. Currently, we support work from all U.S. states except California. International locations are generally not supported, with limited exceptions for individuals residing and working from U.S. military bases.

If selected, candidates must provide proof of qualifications, including official transcripts, professional licenses or certifications, military experience documentation, or verified industry experience.

Qualifications

Doctorate or Master's degree in the relevant discipline, or a Master's with at least 18 graduate semester hours in the discipline.

Appropriate Certification

Professional certifications related to security or aviation security, such as ASIS Certified Project Professional, ASIS Professional Certified Investigator, ASIS Physical Security Professional, ACFE Certified Fraud Examiner, AAAE Certified Member, AAAE Accredited Airport Executive, or TSA Airport Security Coordinator.

Desired Professional Experience

Experience in aviation/aerospace security, intelligence, homeland security, law enforcement, or legal environments. Positions may include intelligence officer, police officer, security director, special agent, airport security coordinator, or airline/airport security manager.

Degrees Within the Teaching Discipline

Degrees in Homeland Security, Law, Criminal Justice, Security Administration, Intelligence, or Aerospace/Aeronautical fields.
