Job description

The OpportunityLesley University always welcomes applications for adjunct faculty to teach upcoming daytime or evening classes for our areas in Humanities and Social Sciences. Subject areas in this department include courses on Creative Writing, English, History, Language (Spanish, Portuguese, American Sign Language), and Social Sciences. Courses include a range of foundational, general education, and major level classes. Classes in this department are either taught in-person or remote depending on the specific course.

Since adjunct faculty positions are ongoing, evergreen positions, your materials will remain on file and will be reviewed on an as-needed basis throughout the upcoming semesters. By submitting your application, you will be put into consideration for current and future adjunct positions within the Humanities and Social Sciences subject area. We hire adjunct faculty on a regular cadence to support our Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters. The specific course hired for is subject to change depending on semester, course catalog, and department needs.

Qualities & CapabilitiesRequired:
  • Master's degree in Creative Writing, English, History, Social Sciences, or related field
  • Master's degree in Spanish, Portuguese, or ASL required for language courses
  • Successful experience teaching in the particular discipline
  • Experience in constructivist, inquiry-based learning with an emphasis on student engagement
Preferred:
  • PhD or equivalent terminal degree in a related field
  • Successful teaching experience in the modality of the course
