Truman College is currently seeking a Part-Time Faculty to teach inour Humanities Department. The ideal candidate will havedemonstrated success in the classroom by developing and usingeffective teaching strategies that meet students’ diverse needs andengage the student in critical thinking and problem-solving.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design courses to meet learning outcomes, and promote students’active participation in their own learning.
• Create an effective learning environment that fosters students’intellectual curiosity and helps students to problem solve usingdiscipline-specific thinking strategies.
• Employ a variety of formative and summative assessments toensure that classroom instruction leads to student learning and theattainment of the student learning outcomes for the course.
• Help students reach their academic, personal and career goalsand foster a safe environment that respects the diversity of peopleand ideas by modeling respect for all students and conveyingconfidence in every student’s ability to learn. Contribute to and provide leadership in the student’s academic andprofessional communities, and promote collaboration and teamworkamong members of these communities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• M. A. in Humanities or Classics or Comparative Religions orForeign Language literature – OR – Master’s degree with 18 graduatecredit hours in one or several related humanities disciplines.
• You must demonstrate excellence in teaching, commitment tointegrating new technologies in the learning process and theability to inspire, motivate and empower students to succeed.
• Maintain office hours for advising, mentoring and coachingstudents.
• Development and revision of courses and instructional materialsas necessary.
• Post syllabi and grades on BrightSpace.

Salary Range: $800 - $943/contact hour

The rate paid is in accordance with City Colleges approved salary scale.
