Job summary

Ivy Tech Community College is seeking Adjunct Faculty to teach on an as-needed basis for 8 or 16 week contracts. Facilitates student learning and uses technology to enhance instruction while maintaining course objectives and records.

Applicants must meet faculty credential requirements, hold health care licensure where applicable, and demonstrate diversity awareness in the classroom and program areas. This role supports instructional standards under ASOM 7.1 and FERPA guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Earned bachelor’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 2 years directly related work experience.
  • Holds certification or licensure in a health care discipline providing care or service directly to patients.
  • ASOM 7.1 credential related to the area of instruction.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
  • Utilize technology to enhance instructional methods.
  • Develop and maintain course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials; maintain student records and grades.
  • Engage with students in meaningful and productive ways to promote learning and positive experiences.
  • Interact professionally with students and co-workers and comply with college policies and FERPA.

Job description

Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis and can teach for 8 or 16 week contracts. Adjunct Faculty are responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided.

Pay: $45.45/contact hour

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Facilitates student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
  • Makes optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.
  • Develops/maintains course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials. Maintains accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
  • Engages with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and leads to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College, shows evidence of developing and implementing active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning (curricular).
  • Interacts with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complies with College policies, campus guidelines and expectations.
  • Ensures knowledge of and implements emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs and all learning environments.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Must have strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to area of instruction and meet faculty credentials as outlined in the ASOM 7.1 for the specific area(s) of instruction. Conducts all activities with an appreciation, respect, and promotion of diversity of people, styles, and views.

Healthcare Specialist Program Standard

A qualified faculty member in Healthcare Specialist meets all three of the following criteria:

    • Possesses an earned baccalaureate or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution; and
    • Has a minimum of 2 years directly related work experience; and
    • Holds certification or licensure in a health care discipline providing care or service directly to patients.
HLHS 107 Course Standard (Lab/Clinical)

A qualified faculty member teaching the lab or clinical portions of CNA Preparation meets both of the following criteria:

    • Is a licensed nurse holding an unencumbered license in the state of Indiana, and
    • Has a minimum of one year of licensed nurse experience.
