Adjunct Faculty, Forensic Studies – Stevenson University

Summary: The responsibilities for this position include teaching Master’s degree courses in the Forensics Studies program in Stevenson University Online. Courses are taught in online or hybrid format. Student advising related to the course being taught is also part of the role.

Qualifications
  • Law degree plus ten years of experience in fraud prosecution.
  • Excellent communication skills in writing and speaking; commitment to excellence in teaching, service and technology application in the classroom.
  • Knowledge of rules of evidence.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Experience prosecuting fraud cases and working with auditors, investigators, and other forensic professionals.
  • Strong technology and organizational skills; experience with Blackboard or a similar platform.
  • Year-round availability; ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Physical Requirements

Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Sitting, standing, walking, talking, hearing, keyboarding, and repetitive motions. Close visual acuity. Position requires sitting and standing for extended periods and the ability to speak clearly and effectively for an extended period.

Essential Functions

Teaching responsibilities include time spent in the classroom, laboratory, or online in telecommunications courses and in immediate preparation for them; maintaining and improving competence in subjects being taught; preparing teaching materials; conferring with students on course materials; directing individual and group studies and practicals; reviewing examinations and papers; evaluating presentations; and supervising independent study projects.

Teaching online and hybrid courses use the BlackBoard Course Management System. Participating in professional peer review is an essential feature of effective teaching. University service includes service on the Faculty Council, school and departmental committees. Professional service implies using academic and professional expertise to serve the profession, the community, and the University.

Engage in instructional activity totaling no more than 1,000 contact hours per academic year. Instructional load includes: preparing courses, syllabi, grading, meeting with students (in person or virtual), evaluating and revising courses, and participating in assessment activities. Administrative responsibilities include writing syllabi, grading coursework, and submitting final grades. Professional Development Workshops are offered up to three times per year, usually on Saturday mornings or in the evening. Student advising includes meetings with students regarding academic, curricular, and career matters. Collegiality and ethical conduct are expected in dealings with faculty, students, administrators, and the public. Academic freedom is guaranteed in accordance with the university policy manuals.
