Summary:

The College of Arts and Sciences is currently accepting applications for the position of Adjunct Faculty in Forensic Pathology. The forensic pathology course is designed to introduce students to the key aspects involved in determining the cause of a victim's fatality or injury. It covers the procedures necessary to identify the victim, as well as to assess the mechanism and manner of fatality, including natural causes, accidents, suicides, and homicides. The course also addresses the collection and analysis of biological evidence surrounding the incident, including environmental and toxicological factors. Finally, it covers the medico-legal responsibilities and expert testimony related to such cases. The college requires faculty to teach courses in person/on campus in Boca Raton, Florida. On-campus undergraduate classes are conducted Monday through Thursday, in 2.5-hour class sessions, for four-week terms or twice a week for eight weeks. This position is for an 8-week course starting August 2025.

Job Description:

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Teach courses in accordance with college guidelines.
  • Participate in the college's assessment program of student performance
  • Timely response to student questions and concerns.
  • Timely submission of university reports and requirements, such as attendance, grades, and student progress reports.

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities

  • Candidates must be proficient with using technology for instructional delivery, such as learning management systems (e.g. Canvas) and presentation software (e.g. PowerPoint).
  • Candidates must have an appreciation of different learning styles to incorporate into their instructional delivery.
  • Candidates must have excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.

Minimum qualifications

  • Candidates must haveat least a master’s degree in a discipline appropriate to the position, which would include pathology. Preference may be given to applicants who hold a doctorate degree in a discipline appropriate to the position and/or applicants with previous post-secondary teaching experience, or experience as a medical examiner or medical examiner assistant.
  • All degrees must have been completed at a regionally accredited institution.
