The School of Humanities and Social Sciences Meta Major encompasses a number of disciplines, including Criminal Justice, Homeland Security, Human Services/Pre-Social Work, Addictions Counseling, Psychology, Sociology, History, and Education (Special Education, Infant/Toddler, Early Childhood, and Elementary/Secondary). Among the options of study encompassed by this Meta Major are Associate of Applied Science (AAS), Associate of Arts (AA), and Associate of Science (AS) programs designed to prepare students for transfer to four-year institutions and/or for entry-level careers. We also offer professional development certificates and programs in preparation for immediate employment upon graduation as well as general education courses required for all degree programs.
Our mission is to offer courses and degree-granting programs centered on a critical and analytical inquiry of human behavior and institutional structures from theoretical, historical, empirical, and multicultural perspectives. Academic exploration of the Social Sciences on local and global scales, aims to promote self-discovery and empowerment through the development of critical thinking and problem-solving skills for future academic and vocational careers.
The College is currently searching for adjunct ESL Instructors to teach part-time within the College's School of Humanities, Social Sciences, English, and ESL. The adjunct instructor will be responsible for teaching ESL classes in writing, grammar, reading, and academic discussion. Instructors who are bilingual in Spanish and English are also needed to teach bilingual sections.Required / Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or closely related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher education.
Demonstrated ability to interact with a culturally diverse population and to effectively and respectfully function and communicate within the context of varying beliefs, behaviors, orientations, identities, and cultural backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
Two years of experience teaching English for Academic Purposes to adults.
