Job summary

Broward College in sunny South Florida invites applications for a part-time teaching position in the Biological Science department. The ideal candidate will help educate a diverse student population and contribute to Broward College’s mission of academic excellence. The position requires a Master’s degree in Environmental Science or related field with specific graduate credits; Ph.D.

is preferred. Office hours and some evenings/weekends may be required, with salary commensurate with education

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Environmental Science or related field with 9 graduate credits in environmental-related science or engineering courses; Ph.D. preferred.
  • Prior college teaching experience is preferred.
  • Candidate must have a high level of computer literacy and be committed to teaching.

Responsibilities

  • Employ teaching methods to accommodate various levels of academic preparation and integrate technology across modalities to facilitate student learning.
  • Facilitate the needs of different learners across programs by using responsive pedagogical techniques.
  • Examine and adapt instructional and classroom practices to engage and support students.
  • Engage in student consultation, course preparation, review of course outlines, and preparation of syllabi.
  • Provide prompt and constructive support to students through office hours and timely feedback on assessments and activities.
  • Provide prompt feedback to student emails.
  • Adhere to reporting deadlines such as grade processing, enrollment verification, syllabus submission, and textbook adoption.
  • Participate in service to the college and its community.

Minimum Education

Master’s degree in Environmental Science OR Master’s degree in any Natural Science or Engineering AND 9 graduate credit hours in environmental-related science or engineering courses, such as Atmospheric Sciences, Botany, Earth Science, Ecology, Environmental Biology, Environmental Chemistry, Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering, Geosciences, and/or Oceanography OR Master’s degree AND 18 graduate semester hours in Environmental courses. Ph.D. preferred.

Minimum Experience / Training

Prior college teaching experience is preferred. The successful candidate must have a high level of computer literacy and a commitment to teaching. All schedules require office hours and some may require evening and/or weekend hours.

Salary Range: $2,286.00 - $2,491.02 (Salary commensurate with education and experience). Posting End Date: Open Until Filled. Work Schedule: Varies.
