The Chronicle Of Higher Education, Inc. is seeking adjunct faculty members at Colorado Mountain College responsible for assisting students in their learning process and contributing to the overall academic mission of the college.
Faculty will teach assigned courses, assess student learning, and maintain engagement through innovative teaching methods. A master's degree and prior teaching experience are required, alongside a commitment to student success and active involvement in the academic community.
The adjunct faculty members of Colorado Mountain College are tasked with assisting students in their learning process by utilizing all appropriate staff resources, materials, facilities, and educational technologies available which complement the teaching process. Faculty members must be committed to facilitating learning throughout our communities. Although teaching is the most important role of the faculty, the needs of our learners are also served when faculty are engaged in scholarly endeavors as well as service activities.
The college seeks innovative facilitators of learning who are active in the art of teaching and passionate about extending academic opportunities to all students. The adjunct faculty members are responsible for teaching assigned courses, evaluating courses and assessing student learning, meeting established course, program and learning outcomes, complying with guidelines and policies, maintaining office hours per established standards, developing rapport with students, and assisting with advising, orientation and registration activities. Faculty are also expected to engage in scholarly and creative activities that enhance discipline expertise and enhance learning, as well as service activities such as campus and college committees, relevant projects, mentorship, assessment activities, program review, student organization, recruiting, and retention.
This position will report to the Assistant Dean of Instruction or designee in alignment with discipline deans.
The position may supervise student employees. Successful completion of a background check and motor vehicle records report (when applicable) will be required. Incumbents must adhere to all safety and compliance policies of Colorado Mountain College while performing all duties assigned. Travel and evening and/or weekend hours may be required.
This position requires constant sitting, occasional walking, standing and driving; occasional handling of objects, pushing/pulling; frequent reaching with hands/arms, and use of finger movements; occasional lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling up to 50 lbs. Constant written and oral communication and the ability to reason, analyze and perform calculations occasionally. Work is performed using a computer and standard office equipment daily and driving a vehicle occasionally.
