Job summary

SUNY Plattsburgh invites applications for Adjunct Faculty in Education (all programs). The Education Department seeks individuals to teach undergraduate and graduate coursework, across childhood to educational leadership areas, in person or via distance learning as needed.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, Educational Leadership, Curriculum & Instruction, Childhood Education, Secondary Education, Early Childhood Education, or related field
• Professional Teaching Certificate
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collegially with faculty, staff, and administrators
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Teach courses in one or more Education programs (undergraduate and/or graduate)
• Deliver course content based on approved outlines and program requirements

About The Position:

The Education Department is committed to excellence in teaching, teacher preparation, and educational leadership preparation. Successful candidates will be committed to excellence in teaching coursework dedicated to preparing undergraduate and graduate students in one or more of our Education programs, including childhood education, adolescence education, special education, and educational leadership. The delivery of course content and assessments based on approved course outlines and program requirements is also included. Course content might include a variety of topics such as Curriculum and Instruction, Instructional Practices for Students with Disabilities, Assessment, Foundations of Special Education, and Instructional Leadership across Birth through 12th grade. The School of Education, Health, and Human Services prepares students for successful entry into their profession. We focus on an ethical approach to human well-being and encourage critical thinking and practical application. As SUNY Plattsburgh is an institution that delivers challenging and high‑quality educational experiences to a diverse group of learners, the successful candidate must demonstrate an understanding of and sensitivity to diversity, inclusion, and equity‑minded policies, programs, and practices. The successful candidate may be asked to teach courses in a distance learning format and is expected to communicate and meet with students outside of class in a timely manner, both virtually and face‑to‑face.

Required Qualifications:

• Demonstrate excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience teaching at the college or university level
• Experience with online instruction
