Job summary

Alamo Colleges District is seeking an Adjunct Faculty member for Dental Assisting (Didactic) in San Antonio, TX. This part-time, temporary role supports the SAC program and requires a bachelor’s degree and subject-matter expertise in dental anatomy, radiology, and dental materials.

Some evenings/weekends may be required. The candidate will teach didactic courses in dental assisting, applying theory and current best practices to prepare students for clinical work.

• Bachelor's degree in the teaching discipline or related field.
• Knowledge of dental anatomy, radiology and digital radiography.
• Knowledge of dental materials, office management, preventive dentistry.

Job Summary and Description

Teaching faculty are professional educators who have the primary responsibility of fulfilling the District mission of providing a quality education for all students attending the colleges. Categories include full-time, temporary with benefits, and temporary without benefits. Faculty members are responsible to a department/program chairperson; The relationship of the faculty member to the student is one of leader, teacher, advisor, and facilitator of learning. Faculty members will uphold the mission and values of the colleges’ and foster effective working relationships with students and colleagues.

• Bachelor's degree in the teaching discipline or related field.
• Must have knowledge in the following areas: Dental Anatomy, Dental Radiology as well as digital radiography, Dental Materials, Dental Office Management, Preventive Dentistry and /or Emergency Management.
• Faculty must have background in and current knowledge of dental assisting in the specific subjects they are teaching and educational theory.

Preferred Education and Education:

• Methodology consistent with teaching assignment.
