Job summary

Roger Williams University is seeking experienced Cybersecurity Adjunct Instructors to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses on an as-needed basis. Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Cybersecurity, CS, IT or related STEM field required; Doctorate preferred.
  • At least 5 years of professional cybersecurity/IT industry experience.
  • Teaching or higher education teaching experience is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver curriculum for undergraduate and/or graduate courses.
  • Evaluate student performance and provide feedback.
  • Facilitate hands-on lab exercises and practical assignments.
  • Integrate current industry standards including AI technologies into instruction.

Job Description: The Department of Cybersecurity & Networking seeks experienced Cybersecurity Adjunct Instructors to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses on an as-needed basis. The ideal candidate brings real-world industry experience across core cybersecurity domains and a strong commitment to student success and practical instruction. Adjunct faculty are responsible for delivering curriculum, evaluating student performance, facilitating hands‑on lab exercises, and integrating current industry standards such as emerging AI technologies, threat landscapes, and modern defensive/offensive practices into the classroom environment.

Potential Subject Areas May Include:
  • Network Security & Defense
  • Penetration Testing, Ethical Hacking, & Offensive Security
  • AI & Machine Learning Applications in Cybersecurity
  • Digital Forensics & Incident Response (DFIR)
  • Security Architecture, Risk Management, & Compliance
  • Fundamental & Advanced Networking Concepts
Job Requirements:
  • Education: Master's Degree required in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related STEM field. (Doctorate or relevant terminal degree preferred).
  • Experience: At least 5 years of professional industry experience in cybersecurity, information technology, or a related field. Prior higher education teaching or professional training experience is highly desirable.
  • Certifications & Skills:
    • Strong ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to diverse student populations.
    • Industry-standard security certifications (e.g., CISSP, OSCP, CISM, GPEN, Security+) are strongly preferred.
    • Exposure to modern technical tools, including AI/LLM integration in technical workflows, automated vulnerability scanning, or defensive automation, is a plus.
