Job Posting Title:Adjunct Faculty, Competitive Strategy, Henry E. Riggs School of Applied Life SciencesJob Description:Position Overview:The primary responsibility of the Adjunct Faculty member is teaching. We are seeking adjunct instructors to teach the following course at Keck Graduate Institute (KGI):BUS 5300 Competitive Strategy (Spring semester, 3 credits per section)We are seeking instructors who can teach the course in either synchronous (Section 1) or asynchronous format (Section 2), or both (Sections 1&2).Course Description:This course focuses on how firms can create and sustain advantages in highly competitive business environments. Students will learn analytical frameworks and techniques for evaluating business situations and developing strategies to improve organizational performance. Students will adopt the perspective of a general manager (e.g., of a business unit, a plant, a region, a division, a product line, or an entire company) focused on long-term profitability. We will answer questions typically addressed by senior corporate executives. Students will be prepared to anticipate the most likely concerns of senior executives who will be the clients or who will supervise the work. To achieve this overarching objective, this course will include lectures, case discussions, and group projects. While lectures aim to elaborate on key theoretical models and frameworks, case discussions will provide hands-on experiences on how business decisions are made in real life. We will discuss a wide range of companies and industries, with an emphasis on the biotech and pharmaceutical industries.The successful candidate must share in the mission of KGI and the Riggs School of Applied Life Sciences Programs. The Adjunct Faculty member reports directly to the Dean of the Riggs School and works collaboratively with the Program Directors and other faculty.Education and Experience:A minimum of a Master’s degree in a related field. A doctoral degree is strongly preferred. Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience. Prior experience in teaching for active learning preferred. Sitting in a normal seated position for extended periods of time. Standing for extended periods of time. Reaching and extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction. Finger dexterity is required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than the whole hand(s), or arm(s), for example, using a keyboard. Communication skills using the spoken word.
