Big Sandy Community and Technical College is seeking a part-time CDL Instructor to deliver Class-A range and road instruction at the Hager Hill Campus. You will monitor attendance, document progress, and provide tutoring as needed to ensure student readiness for tests.

The position fills vacancies due to enrollment shifts and requires a CDL Class A and a high school credential. This on-site role offers competitive benefits and a supportive work environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Two years of over-the-road experience are required.

Responsibilities

• Provides CDL students with quality instruction on-the-range and over-the-road and may provide tutoring for students, as needed.
• Provide instruction so students are educated and able to pass CDL-A tests (written, pre-trip, skills, road).
• Continually evaluate student performance and document progress.
• Identify gaps and provide additional help as needed while monitoring progress.
• Emphasize safety concepts, procedures, and truck maintenance.

Job Summary

The part-time Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Instructor will be responsible for Class-A CDL range and road instruction, monitoring and documenting student progress and attendance. This is a part-time position used to fill vacancies as needed due to increased enrollment, workload, or scheduling.

Job Duties

• Provides CDL students with quality instruction on-the-range and over-the-road and may provide tutoring for students, as needed.
• Provide top-notch instruction so the students are well education and able to pass their written CDL-A permit test, as well as their pre-trip, skills and road tests.
• Continually evaluate student performance and document their progress through attendance forms and checklists.
• While monitoring student progress, identify any gaps and provide additional help as needed.
• Emphasize safety concepts, principles, and procedures.
• Help ensure that the trucks are safe, clean, and well-maintained.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and two (2) years of over the road experience.
• Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A.
