Job summary

College of DuPage invites applications for Adjunct Faculty, Astronomy to teach Solar System and Stars & Galaxies courses. Responsibilities include course planning, instruction in diverse delivery modes, and evaluating students.

A flexible schedule with day, evening, and weekend opportunities may be available. Minimum qualifications include a Master’s degree (or Master’s plus 18 graduate hours) and evidence of graduate coursework; teaching astronomy is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a Master's degree in the discipline or related discipline to be taught; or, a Master's degree plus 18 graduate hours in the discipline to be taught is required.
• Evidence of graduate-level coursework (or significant professional experience) relating directly to the content being taught in the specific course or subfield.
• Applicants with experience teaching astronomy are preferred.
• In-person teaching preferred for current needs.

Responsibilities

• Course planning and instruction in classroom, lab, or clinical settings; courses may be conducted face-to-face, online, hybrid and/or blended formats.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Adjunct Faculty instructors at College of DuPage are responsible for course planning and instruction in classroom, lab, or clinical settings, courses may be conducted in various delivery modes, such as face-to-face, online, hybrid and/or blended formats. In addition, adjunct faculty are responsible for student evaluation, and timely and accurate submission of required paperwork related to instruction.

Ability to teach remotely with technology and experience in online or virtual teaching preferred. Access to personal technology, home computer with appropriate ability to teach online required.

These positions are paid by stipends for course assignments.
