Job summary

Ivy Tech Community College is seeking an Adjunct Faculty member for the Applied Artificial Intelligence Technologies (AAIT) program. The role focuses on delivering AAIT 110 - Artificial Intelligence Essentials and related courses, following program standards and college policies.

The successful candidate will engage students with active, technology-enhanced teaching methods and document student progress throughout the semester.

Qualifications

  • Master’s or higher in IT or related field from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Out-of-field master’s with IT documentation (certs, two years IT work, or teaching excellence).
  • Bachelor’s in IT or related field with two or more IT-focused qualifications (certs, coursework, or experience).

Responsibilities

  • Deliver assigned classes per college policy and course objectives.
  • Develop and update syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials.
  • Maintain accurate records, grades, and other requirements.
  • Engage students with active learning using appropriate technology.
  • Monitor student performance and provide interventions and referrals as needed.
  • Communicate in a professional manner and comply with college policies and FERPA.
  • Ensure safety procedures in classrooms, labs, and learning environments.

Education

Master's degree or higher in information technology or related field (regionally accredited)
Out-of-field master’s degree with IT documentation (certs, two years IT work, teaching excellence, publications, CEUs)
Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field with IT documentation (certs, work experience, CEUs)

GENERAL PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF POSITION: Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis. Adjunct Faculty are responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided.SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Program Chair, Department Chair, or DeanSUPERVISION GIVEN: NoneCLASSIFICATION: Part TimeCOMPENSATION: $47.35/contact hourMAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:Facilitates student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.Makes optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.Develops/maintains course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials. Maintains accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.Engages with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and leads to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College, shows evidence of developing and implementing active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning (curricular).Monitor and document student performance throughout the semester, including use of technology for academic advising alerts; provide necessary interventions to include communication with students, tutoring and other academic supports, and referrals to appropriate college resources.Interacts with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complies with College policies, campus guidelines and expectations.Ensures knowledge of and implements emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs and all learning environments.This is not to be construed as an exhaustive list. Other duties logically associated with this position may be assigned. All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.Applied Artificial Intelligence (AAIT) Program Standard A qualified faculty member in Applied Artificial Intelligence Technologies (AAIT) meets the program standard through one of the following three routes:• Possesses an earned master’s degree or higher in information technology, or a related field, from a regionally accredited institution• Possesses an earned out-of-field master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution, with documentation in one or more of the following:o Professional certification (national, regional, or state) in the fieldo Two years of in-field professional employmento Documented evidence of information technology teaching excellence, including the date of the awardo Documentation of research and publication in the fieldo Documented completion of at least 18 semester hours of relevant information technology coursework, or equivalent subject-matter education demonstrated through CEUs, vendor training, military training, or a combination thereof• Possesses an earned bachelor’s degree in information technology, or a related field, from a regionally accredited institution, with documentation in two or more of the following:o Professional certification (national, regional, or state) in the fieldo Two years of in-field professional employmento Documented evidence of information technology teaching excellence, including the date of the awardo Documentation of research and publication in the fieldo Documented completion of at least 18 semester hours of relevant information technology coursework, or equivalent subject-matter education demonstrated through CEUs, vendor training, military training, or a combination thereof AAIT 110 - Artificial Intelligence Essentials Course Standard A qualified faculty member teaching AAIT 110 meets the course standard through one of the following three routes:• Meets the program standard• Holds a valid, AI-specific certification and holds an earned bachelor’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution in information technology, or a related field, as appropriate to the program• Possesses an earned out-of-field bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution, with documentation in two or more of the following:o Professional certification (national, regional, or state) in the information technology fieldo Four years of professional employment in the information technology fieldIvy Tech is committed to supporting the well-being, growth, and financial security of our part-time employees.
