Job summary

East Texas A&M University is seeking Adjunct Faculty for the Anthropology department. The educator will be responsible for teaching courses on a course-by-course basis, developing syllabi, and managing classroom discussions.

The ideal candidate holds a Master's degree in Anthropology with at least 18 graduate hours and excellent communication skills. Prior teaching experience is preferred. Responsibilities include assessing student performance and assisting students as needed.

Qualifications

  • Teaching experience is preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with D2L as a learning management system is beneficial.

Overview

Adjunct Faculty refers to an educator hired to teach on a course by course basis throughout an academic year.

Responsibilities
  • Teach up to seven semester credit hours (up to two (2) courses) within the required discipline. Instruction may be delivered on-campus, off-campus, or online and may be during the day and/or evening as dictated by student demand and departmental needs.
  • Develop and manage the class syllabus and ensure that the syllabus meets department and college standards.
  • Plan and create lectures, in-class discussions, and assignments.
  • Assess grades for students based on participation, performance in class, assignments, and examinations.
  • Assist/mentor students as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
  • Education: Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate hours in the field of anthropology is required.
  • Experience: prior college teaching experience is not required but preferred.
  • Knowledge / Skills: Knowledge or familiarity with D2L as a learning management system will be helpful. Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to: Multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Education / Skills / Experience
  • College or University teaching experience.
  • Evidence of teaching excellence.
