Job summary

Ivy Tech Community College is seeking adjunct faculty to teach in various courses on a per-semester basis in Indiana. Responsibilities include delivering instruction, preparing syllabi, maintaining attendance and grades, and staying accessible to students outside scheduled class times.

Faculty must meet program standards, possess relevant degrees and certifications per the Curriculum of Record (COR), and have 2 years of related work experience or 5 years with alternative credentials.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in technology, engineering, or related discipline.
• Specialized certifications required for the class as indicated in Curriculum of Record (COR).
• Two years of directly related work experience linked to COR competencies.

Responsibilities

• Teach and facilitate student learning in assigned classes; provide syllabus and follow content requirements.
• Maintain attendance and grading records as per policy; submit information within timelines.
• Be available to students outside class time; address concerns with program coordinator if needed.
• Use Ivy Learn, PowerPoint, and other tech; notify chair in emergencies; promote diversity in all activities.

Job description

Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis. Adjunct Faculty are responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided.

Major Responsibilities

PROGRAM OPERATION: Perform all instructional duties necessary to teach and facilitate student learning in assigned classes. Provide syllabus appropriate to course(s) being taught to students and follows syllabus content and requirements. Maintain student attendance and grading records according to College policy as outlined in the Adjunct Handbook. Submits requested information within established timelines.

STUDENTS: Is available to students outside scheduled class time to answer questions/provide assistance. Deal with student concerns and, if necessary, consult with program coordinator to resolve issues.

INSTRUCTION: Meet all scheduled classes of contracted course(s). Use technology such as Ivy Learn, PowerPoint, etc. as appropriate. In event of emergency absence, notifies program/department chair. Conduct all activities with an appreciation and respect for diversity of people, styles, and views. Promote same as an integral part of one's work.

School of Advanced Manufacturing, Engineering & Applied Science Standard

Education

• Possesses an earned baccalaureate or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution in technology, engineering, engineering technology; or an earned baccalaureate or higher degree directly related to the program’s discipline, and
• Possesses any specialized certifications required for the class being taught as indicated in the Curriculum of Record (COR), and
• Two years of directly related work experience that is specifically linked to the competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record (COR);

or

• Possesses an earned baccalaureate or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution And, possesses any specialized certifications required for the class being taught as indicated in the Curriculum of Record (COR), and
• Five years of directly related work experience that is specifically linked to the competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record (COR);

or

• Possesses an earned associate or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution directly related to the program’s discipline, and
• Possesses any specialized certifications required for the class being taught as indicated in the Curriculum of Record (COR), and
• Three years of directly related work experience that is specifically linked to the competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record (COR).

School of Advanced Manufacturing, Engineering & Applied Science Course Standard

A Qualified Adjunct Faculty Member, Including Dual Credit, Workforce Alignment, And a Full-time Faculty Teaching Outside Their Discipline, Meets The Technical Course Standard Through One Of Four Routes

• Meets the full-time faculty discipline standard; or
• Possesses a Department of Labor, Bureau for Apprenticeship Training recognized journeyman’s card in the discipline directly related to credentials, certifications, and competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record (COR), and in journeyman status for two years or more with experience that is specifically linked to the competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record (COR), and
• Possesses any specialized certifications required for the class being taught as indicated in the Curriculum of Record (COR);

OR

• Possesses any specialized certifications or credentials required for the class being taught as indicated in the Curriculum of Record (COR), and
• 5 years directly related work experience in the field that is specifically linked to the Course Learning Objectives (CLOs);

OR

• Possesses a current Workplace Specialist License, Technology Education License (Technology and Engineering Education, Engineering and Technology Education), or CTE: Trade & Industrial Engineer or Manufacturing License granted by the Indiana Department of Education appropriate to course objectives and directly linked to credentials, certifications, and competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record (COR), and
• Possesses any specialized certifications required for the class being taught as indicated in the Curriculum of Record (COR).
