Job summary

Ivy Tech Community College is seeking an Adjunct Faculty member to teach Accounting in Indianapolis on a part-time, as-needed basis. Responsibilities include delivering instruction, using technology to enhance learning, and maintaining student records within FERPA and college policy.

Candidates may qualify through several degree routes and CPA credentials. Applicants must submit a Cover Letter and an unofficial transcript.

Qualifications

• Requires master’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field as detailed in the role description.
• Multiple routes to qualify for adjunct accounting faculty as per Ivy Tech policy.
• Professional certifications or CPA, teaching excellence highlights may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Deliver assigned accounting classes per College policy and course objectives.

Education

Master’s degree or higher in accounting

Master’s degree in related/out-of-field with 18 post-secondary semester hours in accounting

Master’s degree in related/out-of-field with two or more of: certifications, 3 years professional employment, teaching excellence, research/publication, or 18 CEU hours

Bachelor’s degree in accounting with two+ of: certifications, 2 years professional employment, teaching excellence, research/publication, or 18 CEU hours

Bachelor’s degree in related business with active CPA

About The Role

Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis. Adjunct Faculty are responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided.

Major Responsibilities

• Facilitate student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
• Make optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.
• Supplement and alter, where appropriate, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials. Maintain accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
• Engage with students proactively and regularly in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and lead to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College.
• Demonstrate evidence of developing and implementing teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning.
• Interact with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complying with College policies, guidelines and expectations.
• Maintain a safe, quality educational environment.
• Must demonstrate the ability to promote an environment that reflects the broad backgrounds represented by our students and employees in which every individual feels respected and valued.

Education And Experience

A qualified faculty member meets the program standard through one of five routes:

• Possesses an earned master’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution in accounting; or
• Possesses an earned related or out-of-field master’s degree, from a regionally accredited institution, with documented 18 post-secondary semester hours or equivalent of courses in accounting beyond the introductory principle(s) level; or
• Possesses an earned related or out-of-field master’s degree, from a regionally accredited institution, with documentation in two or more of the following:
  • In-field professional certification (national, regional or state)
  • Three years of in-field professional employment
  • Documented evidence of teaching excellence, including date of award
  • Documentation of research and publication in the field
  • Documented relevant additional coursework beyond the bachelor’s degree, equivalent to 18 semester hours or equivalent subject matter coursework, CEU’s, vendor, or military; or
• Possesses an earned bachelor’s degree in accounting, from a regionally accredited institution, with documentation in two or more of the following:
  • In-field professional certification (national, regional or state)
  • Two years of in-field professional employment
  • Documented evidence of teaching excellence, including date of award
  • Documentation of research and publication in the field
  • Documented relevant additional coursework beyond the bachelor’s degree, equivalent to 18 semester hours or equivalent subject matter coursework, CEU’s, vendor, or military.
• Possesses and earned Bachelor’s degree in a related business field from a regionally accredited institution with an active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification.
