Saint Mary's College of California invites applications for an Adjunct Faculty position in the School of Science for the 2026 Fall term. The in-person Environmental Science lab will be taught on the Moraga campus, August 31, 2026 to December 20, 2026, on Wednesdays 3:30pm–5:30pm.

The successful candidate will maintain regular office hours (minimum one hour per week) to support students outside class. A Master’s or Ph.D.

Qualifications

• Master's or Ph.D. in Environmental or Earth Science preferred.
• Undergraduate teaching experience required.
• Preference for prior teaching of lecture/lab (EES 92 or EES 92L).

Responsibilities

This laboratory will be taught on the Moraga campus in person during the 2026 Fall term (August 31, 2026 - December 20, 2026) on Wednesday from 3:30pm - 5:30 pm.

In addition to teaching, the instructor is expected to hold regular office hours (a minimum of one hour per week) in order to provide students with support outside of the classroom.

Qualifications

Environmental Science is the introductory lab accompanying the Environmental Science lecture. The lab will review the physical, chemical, biological, geological and cultural dimensions of environmental problems, which surveys the historical roots of these problems, then considers components such as population pressure, air and water pollution, global change, desertification, and deforestation. Students will also explore topics such as ecosystem goods and services, environmental management, environmental justice and sustainability for the common good.

Candidates must have a Master's or Ph.D. degree preferred in a relevant area of Environmental or Earth Science discipline and a successful record of teaching experience in a related field at the undergraduate level. Preference will be given to those who have previously taught the lecture or lab or EES 92 or EES 92L (prior to Carnegie conversion).

Candidates must reside in California.

Salary

The salary range for this position is $4,965 - $6,872 (2 units) and is covered by the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the College and SEIU, Local 1021, available here .
