Job summary

Salt Lake Community College in Utah seeks an Electronics Technology Adjunct Faculty to teach theory and lab work in electronics, including AC/DC, analog/digital circuits, and soldering. The role supports an in-person self-paced model and requires efficient documentation of student performance.

The position runs 7am–1pm or 3pm–9pm at the Westpointe Campus, with other schedules possible. This is a pooled adjunct role offered per semester and reviews occur as openings arise.

Qualifications

  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of electronics technology topics.
  • Comfortable using standard electronics equipment including power supplies, signal generators, oscilloscopes, and soldering equipment.
  • IPC 610, J Standard, and 620 certifications a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct students through schedule lectures and self-paced labs, and ensure course learning outcomes are met.
  • Create an effective, supportive learning environment for Salt Lake Technical College students.
  • Evaluate student learning through labs and assignments.
  • Maintain student performance records.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work without close supervision in a team with diverse membership.
  • Ability to work within a prescribed curriculum and departmental procedures while maintaining patience, creativity, and cooperative attitude.
  • Excellent attendance record and attitude.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people with a variety of abilities and backgrounds, to maintain good working relationships across the College.

Job description

The Electronics Technology Adjunct Faculty will provide instruction, outcomes assessment and facilitate students’ learning in the theory and practical application of Electronics Technology. This includes but is not limited to the following: AC, DC, Analog and Digital Circuits and Components, Through-hole and Surface mount Soldering, Instrumentation, and Troubleshooting.

The Adjunct Faculty will support learning in an in-person self-paced learning model using lecture/lab instruction and completing all required reports and documentation.

This position will be assigned courses taught from 7am-1pm or from 3pm-9pm at the Westpointe Campus. Other schedules may be evaluated.

This is a pooled position. The department reviews applications as positions become available.


  • In accordance with SLCC policy, adjunct positions are offered on a semester-by-semester basis with no guarantee of continued employment.
  • Official transcripts are required for those who are offered employment within in 30 days of hire.
Knowledge
  1. Maintain in-depth knowledge of electronics technology topics

All Faculty will maintain an on-site campus presence to encourage in-person relationships and create engaging, meaningful, and impactful learning experiences unless approved for on-line only courses.
You are employed as an Adjunct Faculty member/ Instructor on a contract-to-contract basis, with no future expectation or obligation for employment. Your employment may be terminated At Will at any time.
You are required to maintain professional boundaries with all SLCC students.

Salt Lake Technical College or equivalent certificate in Electronics Technology and 4 years of relevant industry experience,

OR

6 years of relevant industry experience.

Salt Lake Technical College or equivalent certificate in Electronics Technology and 6 years of relevant industry experience. IPC certifications are a plus.
