Job Summary

Teach assigned classes, within the Dental Hygiene Program in the Dental Hygiene Clinic.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Instruct students in the proper use of lab equipment where appropriate.
  • See that equipment and/or labs are properly maintained where appropriate.
  • Participate in assessment of student learning.
  • Maintain student records and evaluate student progress.
  • Attend required meetings (faculty, division, in-service training, etc.).
Doctor Of Dental Surgery Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Review Health History with students identifying implications on dental hygiene care.
  • Perform dental exams to guide students to apply dental materials’ theory to patient care.
  • Assist with X-Rays:
  • Grade students’ techniques.
  • Support student interpretation skills to identify oral pathologies/diseases.
  • Prescribe sealants and grade students’ technique in applying sealants.
  • Local Anesthetics:
  • Administer local anesthetics to patients prior to student certification.
  • Observe and provide feedback to certified students in the administration of local anesthetics.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) from a
  • Current IL DDS license or IL DDS faculty license
  • Flexibility in work schedule
  • Interest in serving a diverse student population
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching in a Dental Hygiene program
  • Experience with Dentrix patient software
  • Experience with digital x-rays
