Northwestern Michigan College is seeking an Adjunct Instructor for Construction Trades Mathematics to deliver high‑quality, real‑world math instruction in the Construction Technology program.
You will teach fractions, decimals, measurement, geometry, and introductory trigonometry through construction applications, and you will guide hands-on activities like measuring, blueprint reading, and cost calculations.
The Adjunct Instructor for Construction Trades Mathematics is responsible for providing high-quality instruction that supports student learning and success in the Construction Technology program. This position teaches applied mathematics concepts through real-world construction applications, helping students develop the foundational skills needed for careers in the construction and technical trades. The instructor creates an engaging, hands-on learning environment that promotes critical thinking, problem-solving, and practical skill development.

When teaching any courses including but not limited to online, accelerated, livestream, hybrid and face‑to‑face formats, the adjunct instructor will meet the responsibilities of adjunct faculty in the areas of Curriculum, Teaching Effectiveness, and Professional Qualities and Abilities. Adjunct faculty are encouraged to participate in Professional Development and in areas that Support of College and Community Initiatives.

Ability to perform and explain mathematical calculations related to construction and technical applications, including unit conversions, estimating, and problem‑solving. Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical, hands‑on situations and communicate them effectively to students with varying levels of mathematical proficiency.
Requirements may vary with specific position. In general, ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.
