Job summary

Technical College System of Georgia's CGTC Macon/Milledgeville campuses seeks a Chemistry instructor to teach Chemistry and Chemistry Lab courses, demonstrate effective teaching techniques, and maintain grade books and required records.

You will follow approved syllabi, participate in professional development, travel between campuses, and ensure compliance with college policies while evaluating student progress.

Qualifications

  • Must upload transcripts/certifications showing conferred educational degrees/current certifications and document qualifications in employment history
  • Earned Master’s degree in Chemistry from an accredited academic institution recognized by the United States Department of Education, OR earned Master’s degree with a concentration in the teaching discipline, including a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline
  • Must maintain qualifications required by the Technical College System of Georgia Policy Manual and accreditation standards
  • Preferred: documented related work experience and/or teaching experience
  • Preferred: documented laboratory hazard or safety training
  • Faculty must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting bodies for the assigned course
  • Applicants must complete the CGTC electronic application and provide required supporting documentation
  • Instructional applicants may be asked to provide a resume in addition to the application
  • Postsecondary transcripts demonstrating degree conferral and minimum qualifications are required where applicable
  • All applicants are subject to applicable pre-employment screenings, including criminal history, motor vehicle, employment references, drug, fingerprint, credit history, psychological, and medical screenings

  • Demonstrates expertise in Chemistry instruction and effective teaching techniques, while maintaining compliance with Technical College System of Georgia policies and accreditation standards.
  • Proficient in evaluating student progress and maintaining accurate records and inventory.
  • Teach traditional day, evening, or online classes.
  • Meet with students and college personnel regarding instructional programs and other issues.
  • Complete reports, records, and invoices promptly

Job description

  • Provide instruction to students in Chemistry and Chemistry Lab courses
  • Demonstrate appropriate teaching techniques
  • Use appropriate testing and grading procedures and maintain grade books and required records
  • Use effective oral and written communication skills and current in-field procedures
  • Follow the approved course syllabus
  • Maintain program requirements and complete all professional development training
  • Meet with students and college personnel regarding instructional programs and other issues
  • Evaluate student progress toward goals and objectives
  • Complete reports, records, and invoices promptly
  • Maintain accurate inventory of assigned property
  • Follow Technical College System of Georgia policies and institutional procedures
  • Teach traditional day, evening, or online classes
  • Travel to satellite locations within the college’s service area as required
  • Position assigned to the Macon or Milledgeville campus, with travel between locations
