Job summary

Hofstra University’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences invites applications for an adjunct faculty position in the Department of Biology to teach introductory biology lab courses and potentially upper-level lecture courses in ecology and evolution, genetics, cell biology, microbiology, physiology, and neurobiology.

The successful candidate will typically teach one or two courses per semester, with labs capped at about 20 students, and be available for weekly office hours and lab instructors’

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in biology or closely related discipline.
• PhD and teaching experience strongly preferred for higher rank.
• Evidence of effectiveness as an educator

Responsibilities

• Teach introductory biology lab courses and potentially upper-level lecture courses in ecology, evolution, genetics, cell biology, microbiology, physiology, and neurobiology.
• Be available for at least one to two hours of office hours per week and attend weekly lab instructors’ meetings.
• Teaching load is typically one or two courses per semester; lab sections max ~20 students.
